1st annual art competition
‘Warpaint’
I’m proud to announce that this image “A Mother’s Sacrifice” will be displayed in the art gallery in Washington, DC. This image represents the trials of parenthood while serving to protect our great nation. As a parent it is hard not being there for your children while you are away for training or on deployments. This image symbolizes emotionally always being there for my children even though I was not always able to be there in person.
The goal of this competition is to recognize and encourage artistic talent in veterans who highlight the experience of their generations. The top 40 works will be unveiled at the National Veterans Center in Washington, DC on March 27, 2015.
“I believe that all across the country, student veteran artists are creating moving legacies of service” said SVA’s CEO D. Wayne Robinson. “With Warpaint, we want to make sure that their talents are recognized.”
